Tasting Notes: Charles Krug Generations Side-by-Side
Two wines, tasted years apart, continued a string of excellence.
Charles Krug Generations 2014 ($60) was defined by its elegance. The tannins are so well integrated with the blackberry fruit flavors they are a seamless complement. There’s sweet tobacco pipe on the alluring nose which also featured back cherry and plums.
A very classy Bordeaux blend, the Charles Krug Generations Napa Valley 2018 ($85) had cabernet sauvignon take the front seat with black cherry flavors and perfectly structured tannins. A rosemary and sage green punch from cabernet franc swoops in perfectly on the finish.
